Dear Parent/ Carer,
We have been advised by Public Health England that there has been some confirmed cases of COVID-19 within our school community. We have followed the national guidance track and trace and have been in close contact with the local authority and have made the difficult decision to close the whole school. This does not affect the children in Y6 and the small number of Y2 children who are having to isolate and they have had the information provided. As staff numbers have been critically hampered and as we have had to ensure that we have sufficient staff to function safely we are going to have to close for the rest of this week. We are very much hoping to open on Monday the 12th October when the vast majority of staff will be able to return but we will keep you updated if the situation does change. Please be assured of the fact that we have taken every precaution over the last month to keep ourselves and our community safe however you will be aware that there has been a huge increase of Covid cases across Leeds and we have unfortunately been effected by that. We are very sad that we won’t be open to your children this week but we will do everything in our power to be open from Monday to Rec , y1 , y2 ( apart from those individuals ), y3, y4 and y5.
It goes without saying that the school will be fully fogged whilst we are closed to ensure that it is Covid free.
During the closure period, if your child displays any symptoms of COVID-19, you should take your child to be tested. If they receive a positive test result, they will begin their 10-day isolation period from the first day they displayed symptoms.
Please see the PHE guidance : https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-stay-at-home-guidance
During this period of closure , the staff in your child’s year group will be providing remote learning. We are conducting this via our new online learning platform ‘Seesaw’. You will receive a 2-week timetable displaying an overview of lessons that mirror your child’s usual school curriculum. This timetable is to be used as a guide only and need not be followed rigidly if it is deemed to be too overwhelming. However, there is an expectation that your child will complete and submit their learning as directed by their teacher, on a daily basis. Some learning will be pre-recorded video style lessons by your child’s class teacher, other learning will pre-set tasks.
Log in information
Please refer to the seesaw information that has been sent out previously but if you have any issues please contact the school mailbox.
Communication with school
Our primary method of communication for the next two weeks will be via your child’s account on Seesaw. Twice a week, a member of staff from your child’s year group will also arrange zoom meetings on a check-in and check-out basis. In addition to this, we will also make contact with you on a one to one basis via phone or Zoom once a week. Please also don’t forget that there may be members of staff that are suffering from Covid during this time and may not be in a position to provide home-learning or communication. Therefore it may not always be your child’s class teacher making contact.
However, if you do have any issues or queries during this time please contact the school office mail box.
Finally, we recognise how difficult this is for families and it is our worst nightmare to have to send bubbles home, so we do thank you for your continued support and patience. We have no doubt that, by sticking together, we can make our way through the latest restrictions and ever-changing goalposts which are at least an improvement on the total lock down we faced last term!
